there are several non-Microsoft security antivirus products on the market such as
eTrust EZ Antivirus 2005 or i am not sure but Norton SystemWorks Professional 2004 also supports Windows Vista.

Quote:
Non-Microsoft Security Applications
Non-Microsoft firewall, filtering, and antivirus products might not function properly in this release of Windows Vista versions of Windows. Products known to have issues include the following:
BlackICE PC Protection 3.6 CRJ
eTrust EZ Antivirus 2005 6.2
eTrust EZ Armor 2005 2.3
F-Secure Antivirus Client Security 5.52
MacAfee Personal Firewall Plus 2004
Norton SystemWorks Professional 2004
Panda Titanium Antivirus 2004
Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 9.0
Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2004
ZoneAlarm Security Suite 5.0.590.043
Other products might also be affected.
Check with your non-Microsoft software vendors for updated versions of their products.

and this is also a nice description
Code:
Security Advances
Windows Vista introduces an improved security model that reduces a system's vulnerability to attack while still empowering applications. In particular, it makes the new User Account Protection (UAP) the default user account, and provides an easy-to-use temporary-privilege elevation model. As a result, malware installations are reduced and more OS functionality is made safely available to non-administrators. Security is further strengthened with a trust-based validation system through Mandatory Integrity Control, and Windows Resource Protection (the follow-on to Windows File Protection) guarantees a stable, read-only view of a running operating system.

64-bit Windows anti-virus not yet mainstream
Thanks guys!
64-bit Windows anti-virus not yet mainstream as i thought!
"We do expect 64-bit computing to become more mainstream, Marr said. I think that time is probably more in the [Windows Vista] time frame.
Thats really the time that I would expect more anti-virus vendors to come online.
Although it concedes there may be user pain in the interim, Microsoft expects users will see security-related performance improvements when 64-bit anti-virus products hit the mainstream. Encryption, for example, should be noticeably faster, Marr said. "
